Y4&5 Canal Walk
The Y4&5 are learning all about Lough Neagh, the River Bann and the Lock-Keeper's Cottage through their current theme - The Blue Planet.
Today we took our learning outside and went for a walk along the Canal in Toome to Lough Neagh. We saw many interesting Waterfowl and studied the signs of Autumn along the way. We used colour palettes to match so many different colours with the nature around us. We gathered leaves, petals, sticks and berries onto our mini collage boards. It was great fun!
We looked out over Lough Neagh and spotted swans, ducks and some herons, to name a few of the birds. We also spotted Sean-Óg's house!
After our interesting walk, we stopped off at the newly refurbished Lock-Keeper's Cottage for a well-earned lunch provided by Bridget and Una - yummy! Then we spent time looking around all of the information boards inside. We will definitely be back. There was lots to see and so much to learn on our own doorstep!
Of course the Eel Fishery is nearby and we are studying the Blue Planet. Should we pay them a visit?
