E-Safety Workshop

22nd Jan 2022

Being online is an integral part of children and young people’s lives. Social media, online games, websites and apps can be accessed through mobile phones, computers, laptops and tablets – all of which form a part of children and young people’s online world.

The internet and online technology provides new opportunities for young people’s learning and growth, but it can also expose them to new types of risks.

E-safety is often defined as the safe and responsible use of technology. This includes the use of the internet and also other means of communication using electronic media (e.g. text messages, gaming devices, email etc). E-safety forms a fundamental part of our safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Funded by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, our Primary 6 and 7 pupils participated in an interactive workshop delivered by Beam Creative. The aim of the workshop was to enhance their knowledge of online dangers and make them aware of how to report and manage their online experiences. The pupils devised their own set of e-safety golden rules.  A valuable set of rules for everyone.
